Norman Anthony Marcel, 85, native of Houma and resident of Thibodaux, passed 
away on August 8, 2016. 

Norman was a retired professor from Nichols State University from 1963 - 1994. 
He earned his Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from SLI. He earned his Masters 
and PHD in Health and Physical Education from Louisiana State University. 
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Celebration of life will be held at Grady V's located at Bayou Country Club in 
Thibodaux on Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 11:00am until 2:00pm.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Gray Smith Marcel, three daughters, Mary 
Marcel Matthews, Paula Marcel Bothner, Missy Marcel Loupe; step daughter, 
Margaret Lyons Neff; two step sons, Philip Lyons, Eric Lyons; .
Grandchildren - Ian, Claire and Nadya Bothner, Katie Matthews Clarkson and 
Sarah Matthews, Rob and Laura Neff, Jacob Lyons, Blake and Alexis Loupe, Evan, 
Hudson and Madelyn Lyons
Sisters - Louise Porche and Alice Clark
Brothers - Louis Marcel and Kurt Marcel
Numerous nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by, 1st wife - Margaret Mackey Marcel
Parents - Sullivan and Louise Molaison Marcel
Brothers -Russell Marcel and Junel Marcel
Sisters - Ethel Babin, Rita Mae Porche and Hazel Filce

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children.
Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
