Perque departed on August 12, 2016 from a life well lived at the age of 83. His parents were Eudovic and Florence Perque. He was raised on a farm in Chackbay, the youngest of eight children. At 17, he joined the U.S. Navy and honorably served for four years during the Korean conflict. After leaving the service, he met his wife, then Joan Portier, and offered to marry her on the first day they met at the College Inn in Thibodaux over 60 years ago. They were married within a year, and in time had six children, Craig, Michael, Stuart, Chris, Brian, and Laure. He and his brother, Kirby Perque, built a flooring business that provided a livelihood for themselves, their children, and relatives, as well as others. He is survived by his wife Joan, children, brother Kirby, and 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren as well as a multitude of friends. He loved cooking, fishing, raising horses, playing cards, and teasing friends and family. All are welcome to attend his funeral services at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church at 1985 Hwy 308, Thibodaux, La. 70301 on August 16, 2016. A wake will be held in the church beginning a 8:30 a.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., and burial to immediately follow in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church cemetery.
