James “Goofer” Smith, II, age 99, a native and resident of Raceland, peacefully 
left this earth on Monday, August 15, 2016.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service at 
Third Zion Baptist Church in Raceland on Saturday, August 20, 2016. Visiting 
will be held from 9:00am until the hour of service at 11:00am. 

Burial in Third Zion Baptist Church cemetery.

He leaves to cherish his memories, 3 sons, Leonard (Dianne), Gilbert James 
(Linda), and Gerald Louis Smith (Annette Porsche) Fiance’; 3 daughters, 
Bernadine Chatman, Joyce (Lloyd) Reado and Violet (Anthony) Hartsfield; 15 
Grandchildren, 47 Grandchildren and 32 Great-Grandchildren; 2 brothers, Earl 
and Joseph Smith; 5 sisters, Clara and Rebecca Robinson, Geneva Smith, Ella B. 
Gray and Verna Reado.

Preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Jones Smith; Parents, Louis and Bertha 
Allen Smith; 1 son, Lionel Smith; 2 brothers, Alvin and Henry Smith.

Kennedy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
