Mary Elaine Gibson Whitney, 74, a native of Morgan City and a resident of 
Houma, departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior in her heavenly home, 
on August 30, 2016.

There will be a memorial visitation and service at Samart Funeral Home, 635 
Bayou Blue Rd. Hwy 316 Houma, La. on Tuesday September 6, 2016 from 5p.m. to 
9p.m.

She is survived by her husband, Reed Whitney; daughter, Teri Lirette Thibodeaux 
and husband Carl; sister, Ruth Guidry; Reed "Bubba" Whitney Jr. and wife 
Sherry; Mark Whitney; Dain Whitney; grandchildren, Caity Thibodeaux, Lee 
Thibodeaux, Kim Labauve, Brianna Whitney, Chandler Whitney, and Hanna Whitney; 
and her faithful dog Chi Chi.

She is preceded in death by her parents John and Louise Gibson, sisters Pat 
Landry, and Jackie Duplantis.

Elaine was a very generous and loving person, she enjoyed her plants and our 
garden and boiled crabs and a boo-ray game. She will be missed by all.

Samart is in charge of arrangements.
