Herman "Hamp" James Hampton, 74, a resident of Lafourche Parish, passed away 
peacefully at 6:53 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. 

Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. until funeral time at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, 
September 17 at New Vision Christian Community Church in Raceland. 

Burial will follow in Morning Star Baptist Cemetery. 

He is survived by his sons, Craig and Jerome Hampton; daughters, Demetria 
Bryant (Donald) and Vanessa Robertson (Felton); twelve grandchildren; six great 
grandchildren; brothers, Bruce Hampton, Lloyd Hampton (Nichelle); and Marvin 
Hampton (Linda); sisters, Eula Dicks, Lucille Hampton, Elsie Poindexter 
(Isiah), Louise Poindexter (Curtis, Sr.), Linda Young, Bernadine Howard, Doris 
Verrett (Matthew, Jr.). 

Preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Verrett Hampton; daughter, Carla Jean 
Hampton; parents, Fredrick and Viola Ellis Hampton; godchild, Wanda Marie 
Robinson; and companion, Barbara Farlough. 

Arrangements entrusted to Jones Funeral Home of Houma.
