Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2016/f1609.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Romain Marks, 95, a native of Arnaudville, Louisiana and resident of Theriot passed away on Sunday, August 28th, 2016. Visitation will be from 9:00am until 11:00am on Saturday, September 17th 2016 at St. Eloi Catholic Church, Theriot LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Saturday with burial to follow in St. Eloi Catholic Church cemetery, Theriot There will be a fellowship gathering and meal in the Community Center to celebrate his life afterwards. All are welcome. He is survived by his son Fred Romain Marks, daughter Katy Suzanne Mayer (David), three sisters Leonie Marks Trahan, Joyce Marks Taylor, Edith Olivier Arnaud, one brother Luce Marks Jr., two grandchildren Brian Joseph Marks (Stacy) and Sarah Pauline Mayer, and one step-grandchild, Heather Chauvin Bascle (John). He was also 'Popee' Romain to many others who touched his life. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. Luce Marks and Mrs. Claudia Martin Marks, wife Pauline Chauvin Marks, daughter in-law Lora Ragsdale Marks, and four brothers Saul Marks, Dewey Marks, Clifford Marks, and Wilson Marks. Romain moved to Houma after World War Two, in which he served as a U.S. Navy hospital corpsman. He was an insurance salesman for First National Insurance, owned and operated the Marks Grocery and Meat Market, and a roustabout for APMC Drilling Company.
