Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2016/f1610.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Ethel Naquin Knobloch, 96, a lifelong resident of Thibodaux, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2016. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 10, 2016 from 9:00 A.M. until service time at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 A. M. at the church with burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery. Ethel is survived by her brother, Jack Naquin and his spouse, Ruby; her sister- in- law, Margaret “Noonie” Naquin; nieces, Emelia Aucoin, Margaret Ledet, Jeanie Jefferson, Susie Bergeron, Connie Stuckey; nephews, Mike and Mark Naquin and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “P-Put” Knobloch, parents, Henry B.Naquin and Elise Riviere Naquin, brother, H.B. Naquin, Jr. ,niece, Patricia Rodrigue and nephew, Barry Naquin. She was a graduate of Thibodaux High School, Soule Business College, and Tulane University of Business. She also attended Nicholls Junior College and Nicholls State University. Employed by Lafourche Parish School Board for 32 years, she was the Supervisor of Accounting and the Office Manager. She was the first woman elected to serve on the Thibodaux City Council from 1978 to 1998. She also worked closely with the Civil Service board, the Senior Citizens Inc., Thibodaux Business and Professional Woman’s Club, AARP, Fete Champetre, and the Altrua Club. As a civic leader, she was the recipient of numerous awards and was inducted into the Louisiana Center for Women and Government Hall of Fame in 2006. Ethel was a parishioner of St. Joseph Co-Cathedral. She enjoyed traveling, swimming, walking her dog, playing the piano, hosting foreign exchange students, housing NSU students, and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family wishes to extend warm and special thanks to her caregivers, her doctors, STAT Home Health, and the staff of Thibodaux Regional Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Henry Aucoin Heart Foundation, the Cancer Society, or the Smile Train. Landry’s Funeral Home of Thibodaux is entrusted with her arrangements. ======================
