Marlene Richard Authement, 83 a native and resident of Houma, passed away 
peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from 
the Magnolia Chapel at Chauvin Funeral Home on Sunday, November 6, 2016 
beginning at 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at St. Francis De 
Sales Catholic Church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian 
Burial at 11:00 a.m. 

Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery #2.

Marlene is survived by her children; Sue Pizzolato and husband Sammy, Patti 
Bent and husband Lynn; Robin Lirette and husband Jimmy, Stephanie “Tini” Rogers 
and husband Ricky; David Authement, Staci “Toot” Authement and Martha Gilley; 
17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dot Redmond and Cookie 
Golding; brothers, Barry Richard and Matt Richard; special lifelong friend and 
dedicated care-giver, Catherine Bourdier.

Marlene is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Norman J. Authement; 
son, Richard S. Authement; parents, Ivy J. Richard and Pauline Michel Richard.

She was a parishioner of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church. She was a 
business woman since 1950 along with her husband. Her businesses included 
Normans Clothing Store with “Pit Stop” and “Surf Hut” themed departments, 
Norman’s Tuxedos complimented by Maison De Couture Fabric Shop and Something 
Blue Bridal Shop. The tuxedo business is still operating today with all family 
members involved. 
She was a member of the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild winning many ribbons for her 
beautiful paintings. She was a fabulous cook and fed everyone who showed up 
every Sunday. An avid gardener, she grew enough vegetables to fill her freezers 
and share with others. Everyone she met immediately recognized her beauty 
inside and out. She loved her family dearly. Sundays were spent cooking and 
enjoying the kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids and watching them play in her 
yard. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
