John Kenneth-Wayne Harrison, or as his mother hated to hear him call himself, “Black Jesus”, was born to the late John Alton Harrison and the late Shirley Mae Andrus Bennett in Lafayette, LA on June 20, 1962. He departed this life on November 4, 2016 at Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma, LA. The Life of John Harrison will be celebrated on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Community Funeral Home 230 S. Hollywood Rd., Houma, LA 70360. Visitation from 8:00a.m. until funeral time at 10:00a.m. His service will be officiated by Rev. Ryan Miller. Interment at Mechanicville Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery. In his memory, he leaves to cherish one child, John O’Brien Castle; his loving father, Warrence Bennett, Sr.; a devoted friend, Dorothy “Dot” Bonnett; nine sisters, Bridgette Maria Harrison, Rita Brown (Nicky), Mary Woods, Aletha Bennett (Harry) all of Houma, Carolyn Thomas of New Orleans, LA, Latanya Wright of Phoenix, AZ, Samantha McCloskey, Kimberly Harrison, and Charity Bennett- Jones (Errol) of Houston, TX; two brothers, Derrick Bennett and Warrence Bennett, Jr. of Houma, LA; nine aunts, Dixie Rose Wilson (Larry), Marjorie Faye Johnson (James), Mary Lee Davis, Helen Ruth Carter, Henri Belle Caldwell, Louise Aldridge (Anthony), Sarah Kate Matthews, Gloria Smith (Lionel), and Pearl Bennett of Houma, LA; his favorite great aunt, Mary Bonvillain Nixon, and one great-great aunt, Sadie Nixon both of Houma, LA; three uncles, Melvin Harris of Thibodeaux, LA, Joseph Harrison of Houston, TX, Ervin Andrus (Verlee)of Opelousas, LA, Raynard Rose of Baton Rouge, LA and Herbert Andrus Sr. of Forth Worth, TX.
