Bob was born on July 20, 1937 in Haynesville, Louisiana as the third of five children to Millard and Erma Barden Bond. After graduating from Haynesville High School, Bob earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Louisiana Tech University. After graduating, He began a career in the Oil and Gas industry that spanned four decades. His first job was with Magcobar Drilling fluids where he began as a mud engineer and eventually became a regional Vice President. In 1978, he cofounded Bayou Pump Rentals in Houma which is known today as Gulfstream Services, Inc. He retired in 2000 to spend more time with his wife and family. Known also by his nickname “Bosco”, he loved attending LSU sporting events with his friends. He was an avid Tiger fan and was named Volunteer of the Year in 2001 by the Tiger Athletic Foundation. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, James Louis Bond; one brother, Billy Bond and one sister, Betty Bond Fanning. Bob is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years Mary Caillouet Bond of Thibodaux, Louisiana; son Robert “Bobby” Bond, Jr. and wife Sara of Houma, Louisiana; daughter Susie Bond Speetjens and husband Karel of Jackson, Mississippi; and son Dr. Thomas K. Bond and wife Ann of Lafayette, Louisiana. He was “Granddaddy” to nine grandchildren; John-Robert Weaver Bond, William Barden Bond, Mary Caroline Speetjens, Patrick Melder Bond, Andrew Karel Speetjens, Julia Elizabeth Bond, Thomas Kermit Bond, Jr., Aiken Louis Bond and Jackson Burke Bond. He is also survived by two sisters; Mary Belle McMahen of Walkerville, Arkansas and Alva Ann Hayes of El Dorado, Arkansas and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 8:30AM to 11AM on Friday, January 27th at St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux. The Funeral Mass will begin at 11AM followed by internment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Thibodaux.
