Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2017/f1701.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Mrs. Josie Falterman, 93, of Harrison, AR previously, of Houma, LA, died Friday, January 20, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Harrison. A Visitation and Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in the Annunziata Church in Houma, LA. Public viewing we be from 1:00 P.M to 2:00 P.M. and the Funeral Mass at 2:00 P.M. Father Mike Tran will be celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Francis De Sales Cemetery #2. Josephine Bertha Falterman was born, Friday, August 17, 1923 in Houma, LA to Nicholas and Helen (Voisin) Gaston. Josie was a lifelong resident of Houma and graduated from the St. Francis De Sales High School. After graduation, she attended Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in New Orleans, LA and graduated with her Bachelors in Nursing. She went to work as a Registered Nurse with Ellender Hospital and later for the Terrebonne General Medical Center working in the E.R., Surgical and later in local nursing homes. While working in the hospital, she met Don Falterman and they were married on February 4, 1947 in Houma. In 1956 the family moved to the suburbs of Houma--Bayou Blue. She retired from nursing in the early 1980’s. Josie and Don moved to Ridgedale, MO to be near their youngest daughter, Donna in 2009 and then moved to Harrison, AR to be with her oldest daughter, Darlene in 2012. Her husband, Don died on November 30th of 2012. Josie always enjoyed helping others, caring, loving, mentoring and nursing them. She had what is known as a Servant’s Heart. She had a strong faith and taught her family about the love of God and financial responsibility. In her younger days she sang in the St. Francis de Sale Church Choir and was a member of the Firehouse Squares, a square dancing club in Houma, LA. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cross stitching, singing and cooking. She was particularly talented in the preparation of Gumbo and chicken stew. She was a member of the Annunziata Catholic Church of Houma, LA. She is survived by her son, Darrell Falterman and wife, Debra of St. Augustine, FL; two daughters, Darlene Coffman and husband, Donald of Harrison, AR, Donna McManus and husband, Patrick of Ridgedale, MO; one sister, Marie Gaston of Harrison, AR; one sister-in-law, June Gaston and her son, Matt Gaston his wife Liza and their son, Blake Gaston of Vero Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Catherine Goodrich, Mary Ellis, Chad and Brian Coffman and Allison Boudreaux; nine great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Benjamin, Tiffany, Jennifer, Katelyn, Hunter, Parker, Shelby and Brian Michael; one great-great-grandson, Adam Coffman. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darnell “Don” Falterman and one brother, Gerald N. Gaston. Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Falterman family. ======================
