He was a lifelong resident of Houma. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on Thursday, February 2, 2017 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery no. 2 Rufus met the love of his life and they married November 23, 1958; they started a beautiful family. Rufus is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Doris Richard Freeman; sons, Dean Freeman and wife Giseli, Brian Freeman and wife Debbie. Rufus was a proud papa, he adored his fourteen grandkids; Nathan and Kate Freeman, Courtney and David Coleman, Hollie and Robert “Bo” Louque, Caroline and Kevin Monvoisin, Justin and Sabrina Freeman, Phillip, Br. Anthony, Grace, Michael, Christopher, Elizabeth, Stephen Freeman, Pedro Fritz and Anita Fritz; he is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren. Rufus is survived by his brother, Earl Freeman and wife Mazie; sister, Peggy Portier. Rufus leaves this world and is united with his Lord and Savior and parents, Abbie and Annis Bergeron Freeman; sister, Joyce Freeman Cunningham; great- granddaughter, Lucy Freeman.
