Laurent, Sr., 89, a native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Montegut, La, died Monday, January 9, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 9:00AM until service time in the Chapel Dauphine at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc.. Liturgy of the Word will be held at 12:00PM at the funeral home with burial in Terrebonne Memorial Park Cemetery. He is survived by his sons, Roy, Jr., and wife Carol of Montegut, and Charles and wife Linda of North Carolina; daughters, Joycelyn Laurent of Montegut; brother, Leslie Cazaubon of New Orleans; 11 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy “Dot” Prestenbach Laurent; parents, Alexander P. and Hazel Blum Laurent, one brother and four sisters. Roy was a carpenter. He loved fishing, cooking, baking and being with family and friends. He served U.S. Navy in World War II. The family would like to thank Hospice of South Louisiana, especially to Paul Duet and Jill Usie on his final days. Also Dr. Jules Dupont and all of the sitters that helped take care of him.
