She was a longtime resident of Houma, Louisiana. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 beginning at 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Celebration Memorial will be held at 7:00 p.m. The family requests for everyone to wear Saints, Mardi Gras, or Colorful attire. Marla is survived by her seven children; LuAnn Vaith and husband Pat, Marie “Rachel” Allemand, Greg Allemand and wife Phyllis, Nina Theriot and husband Jody, Micky Allemand and wife Kay, Ebb “Andre” Allemand and wife Katherine, and Kristi Matherne and husband Chris; Marla was a proud maw-maw to 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; she is also survived by her loving sister, Rhoda Burson. Marla is preceded in death by her parents, Ebb and Una Burson; husband of 63 years, Norman Allemand and her brothers, Charles, Errol and Brent Burson. Marla’s health may have declined but her spirit is still strong. “I’ve fought the good fight, I’ve finished the race, I’ve kept the faith.” Marla loved cooking, reading, sewing, coloring, crocheting and bus trips to the casino. She was also a Mary Kay Consultant for thirty years and worked at Dillards for 12 years. She was part of the Krewe of Aphrodite for twelve years.
