Mr. Matthew Richard Bennett, Sr., 70. A native of Belle Rose, LA and resident 
of Gray, LA died on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Terrebonne General Medical 
Center.

Funeral services for Mr. Bennett will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 
Community Funeral Home 230 S. Hollywood Rd., Houma, LA 70360. Visitation will 
be from 9:00a.m. until funeral time at 11:00a.m. 

Interment at Halfway Cemetery in Gray, LA.

Mr. Bennett leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Thelma I. Bennett and 
five children, Matthew Richard Bennett, Jr., Charles D. Mouton, Melissa Bennett 
Suazo and husband Yerry Suazo-Lopez, Charlotte Largarde and Cora Bradley. Two 
brothers, Orley and Ernest Bennett and sisters, Cecile Rayfield, Eldora Smith, 
Celeste Jackson, Selina Bennett, Mary Lockett and Kristin Myles, 25 
grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daisy Miles Bennett and Eugene 
Bennett, Sr., and one daughter, Marvella Shanell Bennett. Brothers, Joseph, 
Lloyd, August, Oscar, Charlie, Harden, Alfred and Eugene Bennett, Jr.  Sisters, 
Geraldine Southhall, Ezola Preston, Ollie Bennett, Mary Bova and Lucile Key.

He was a Baptist and he enjoyed fishing.

The staff of Community Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bennett family.
