Claiborne Joseph Morvant Sr., 79, died Sunday, February 05, 2017, at 9:10 AM. 
Born April 12, 1937, he was a native of Thibodaux and resident of Raceland.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 9:00AM until 
service time at Saint Joseph Co Cathedral. A mass of Christian burial will 
begin at 11:00AM 

with burial following at Saint Joseph Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Yvonne Kirkpatrick Morvant, children, 
Claiborne J. Morvant, Jr., Tammy Schmitt and husband Richard, Scott Morvant and 
wife Amy, Mike Morvant, Betsy Rodenberg and husband Jason, Nikki Osborne and 
husband Russell, Matt Morvant and wife Lacey; grandchildren, Nathan, Hayden, 
Jacob, Mandy, Jordan, Katie, Dustin, Brandon, Hope, Taegan, Nova and Liam; and 
numerous great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvin and Elise Chiasson Morvant; 
sister, Diana Melancon.

He enjoyed reminiscing of his days at Thibodaux High School where he played 
both football and track, breaking records and winning awards.
He was a welder for over 40 years.
