Visitation will be held in his honor from 10:00 A.M. until the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, Thibodaux, LA.. Mass will be at 1:00 P.M. The burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Thibodaux, LA. He is survived by four of his five children, Gretchen P. Smith and husband, Martin of Plattenville, Kurt J. Perque of Grand Isle, Mary P. Noto and husband, Brian of Luling, and Mark P. Perque and wife, Elizabeth of Thibodaux; former son-in-law Tommy Minton of Patterson; fourteen grandchildren, Adam Smith and wife, Christina, Scott and Kathy Smith, Richard Perque, Anne and husband, Walter Schmidt, Jerome and Joseph Perque, Natalie and husband, Blake Gervais, Andrew and wife, Meredith, and Jason Noto, Ryan and Danielle Perque, and Coby and wife, Caitlyn, and Cade Minton; eight great grand children, Peyton, Alora, Madelyn, Eloise, Walter Jr., Essie Kate, Izabella, and Beckett; and one step great granddaughter Julie. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Essie Oncale Perque, his beloved daughter, Sheila Perque Minton; his parents, Eudovic and Florence Perque; seven siblings, Diddion "Did" Verdun, Chelton "Charles", Leo Sr., Charles "OJ", Steward, Curley, and Harvey Perque; and nephew Leo Perque Jr. He was co-founder of Perque Floor Covering with his brother, Harvey Perque. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and spending time with his beloved wife at their camp in Cocodrie.. He loved to bring his grandchildren to "visit" the cows in Chackbay. His passion was his family.
