Nellie Guidry Cheramie, 89, a native of Raceland, La passed away Friday March 
10, 2017 in Wake Forest, N.C.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held Tuesday March 28th at 
11:00 a.m. at St. Mary"s Church, cemetary in Raceland, La.

There will be a celebration of Nell's life following the funeral at the home of 
Evelyn Stokes Bergeron, 124 Guidry Lane Raceland, La.

Nellie Guidry Cheramie, 89, died Friday, March 10th, at Carillon Assisted 
Living in Wake Forest. 

Nellie was born October 28, 1927 in Raceland, Louisiana to the late Jerome and 
Emma Collins Guidry. Mrs. Cheramie was a hairdresser for many years. She was a 
communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest.

Nellie was preceded in death by her husbands, John Raybern Stokes, Ivy Ayo and 
Hilray Cheramie along with her son, John Stokes.

A funeral mass celebrating Nellie’s life was held at 11:00 am Friday, March 
17th, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 600 W. Holding Ave., Wake 
Forest.

Nellie is survived by: a daughter, Cassondra Hite of Wake Forest and her 
husband, Ed; two sons, Paul Stokes of Louisiana and Mark Ayo of Florida; nine 
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
