Aline Giroir Hebert was born on December 9, 1920 in Weeks Island, LA and died 
in Houma, LA on March 22, 2017. 
She was 96 years old. 

Aline was the loving wife of the late Oddie Joseph Hebert for 72 years. She is 
survived by her son Michael James Hebert and wife, Rhea and her daughter Gay 
Hebert. and grandchildren Loren Hebert Moore and husband Nic, Henry Hebert and 
Kathleen Hebert. Her first great grandson is due in April 2017.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 
p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc., and on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 9:00 
a.m. until service time at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will 
be held at the church at 11:00 a.m. 

with burial in St. Francis No. 2.

Aline lived by the words of Marion Wright Edelmann "Service is the rent we pay 
for living. It is not something to do in your spare time, it is the very 
purpose of life," Living by that philosophy she was involved in volunteer 
activities her entire life.

Aline served as homeroom mom for 16 years, was vice-president of the PTA a cub 
scout den mother, co-chairman for the THS Band Boosters Club and charter member 
of the VFW. After her children were grown she was chairman for the Anti-Litter 
campaign, 4-H helper and judge and a fundraiser for numerous charities. She 
also served on the advisory board for the Eye Foundation of America

Aline taught religion for 15 years and was a founding member of St. Gregory 
Catholic Church.

Aline was the first woman on the Board of Directors for the Chamber of Commerce 
and served for 10 years. As a charter member of the Houma Tourist Commission, 
she served as Vice-Chairman and Treasurer. She was Chairman for Tourist 
Appreciation Day, Chairman for the Clean City campaign and Chairman for the 
Arbor Day Celebration. She was a member of the Terrebonne Association of Family 
and Community Education for over 30 years.

As a volunteer at Heritage Nursing Home, Aline and Oddie cut and styled hair 
for the residents. Aline served as president and treasurer of Town and Country 
Homemakers, worked for Team Spirit each summer, was a member of Friends of the 
Library and was a volunteer at Terrebonne General Hospital for over 20 years. 
She was a docent at Southdown Museum for over 30 years. For all her years of 
service to the community she was honored in 1984 with the title of Le Grande 
Dame of Houma.

After Oddie's death in 2011, Aline lived at The Homestead Assisted Living 
facility. We would like to thank the Homestead management, nurses, sitters, 
friends and all personnel for being so kind throughout the years.
