Dorothy Reed Batiste, 91, a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Gray, 
passed away peacefully at 7:09 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2017.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at 11:00 a.m. on 
Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Eagle Wright Baptist Church located at 3590 Hwy 316 
in Gray. 

Burial will follow in Allen Chapel AME Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughters, Deloris M Jones and Barbara Richardson 
(Benjamin); six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great 
grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Batiste; grandson, Evanger 
Bruce Jones; parents, Sylvester, Sr. and Verna Shanklin Reed; brothers, Edgar, 
Louis, Lloyd and Sylvester Reed, Jr., Clarence and Willis Davis; sisters, 
Beatrice and Mable Johnson, Alice, Lillie Belle, Bessie and Pearl Davis, Esther 
Reed, Gertrude Rogers, Harriot Brown, and Urcel Ingram; and son-in-law, Evanger 
Jones, Jr.

Arrangements entrusted to Jones Funeral Home of Houma.
