Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2017/f1704.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Rose Lajaunie Detiveaux, 87, a native of Bayou L'ourse and a resident of Houma, passed away while peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday, April 8 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church; with burial to follow in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church cemetery. She is survived by her four daughters, Ellen Detiveaux Ledet, Janis Detiveaux LeBoeuf and husband, Merlin, Evelyn Detiveaux McElroy and husband, Eugene, all of Houma, and Pamela Detiveaux Spence and husband, Steve of Monessen, PA; brother, Ronald Lajaunie and wife, Earline of Houma; nine grandchildren, Rhonda Ledet, Danielle Guidry Haslitt and husband, Johnny, Emily McElroy, Erin McElroy Pierce and husband, Patrick of New Orleans, Elizabeth Spence Frederic and husband, Teau of Asheville, N.C., Renee Spence of Brandon, MS, Steven Spence II and wife, Kristen of Santa Rita, Guam, Katie Spence of Humble, TX, and Sarah Spence MacFarlane and husband, Stephen of Fort Worth, TX; three Step- grandchildren, Christy LeBoeuf Mayo and husband, Jerry, Merlin "Butch" LeBoeuf Jr. and wife, Crystal, and Emily LeBoeuf; 12 great-grandchildren, Hayden and Avery Haslitt, Madison McElroy, Grant Hayes, Alyssa Gamberella, David, Alton, and Connor Spence, Michael and Valerie Adams, Abby Clopton, and Grace Gatlin; 10 step-great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Cierra, and Milton Mayo, Laiken and Blake LeBoeuf, Shawn and Ryan Billiot, Hunter and Ashley Lirette, and Dorin Frederic; step-great-great-grandchild, Skylar Cunningham; three godchildren, Joan Boudreaux Himel of Houma, Leigh Lajaunie Wilkerson of Madisonville, and Joyce Detiveaux Crochet of Broussard; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Alton Henry Detiveaux; parents, Anidas Lajaunie Sr. and Inez Pennison Lajaunie; sister, Esther L. Shastid; brothers, Anidas Lajaunie Jr., Raymond Lajaunie, Hilton Lajaunie, and Wilton Lajaunie; and son-in-law, Melvin Ledet. She was a devoted homemaker – a great dessert maker. She believed strongly about instilling our Catholic faith. She was a 23 year volunteer at Heritage Manor in the beauty shop. Rose was a loving and unconditionally supportive grandmother. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, especially doing picture puzzles. She loved Mardi Gras and in her earlier years, she loved dancing. She enjoyed to read and do crossword puzzles. She loved watching NCIS and Blue Bloods – mostly because of Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Tom Selleck. She also loved her numerous nieces and nephews. She was an Altar Society member and parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The family would like to thank Dr. Jules Dupont, Dr. Richard Abben and the CIS staff, Dr. Miguel Aguillera and the ER staff at TGMC, the Heritage Manor staff, and TGMC 4th floor nursing staff for the wonderful care given to her.
