Sylvester "SP" Patterson, Sr., 86, a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident 
of Houma, passed away peacefully at 7:10 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2017.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, 
May 5, 2017 at New St. Matthews Baptist Church located at 3966 Hwy 311 in 
Houma. 

Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Mausoleum.

He is survived by his wife Elaine Diggs Patterson; son, Gregory C. Patterson, 
Sr.; daughter, Terry Lynn Patterson-Swan; ten grandchildren; thirteen great 
grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son Sylvester Patterson, Jr.; grandson, Kolby 
Patterson; parents, Charles Patterson and Lerino Nichols Stewart; grandparents, 
Hayes and Mary Collins; mother-in-law, Mary Smith; and father-in-law, Herman 
Diggs.

He was a retired Superintendent with the State of LA Department of 
Transportation Development and a US Army veteran.

Arrangements entrusted to Jones Funeral Home of Houma.
