Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2017/f1704.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Charles Joseph Toups, 55, a native and a resident of Houma, passed away at 5:31pm on April 27, 2017 at home surrounded by his family after his 3 year courageous battle with cancer. A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 9am to 10am, with the service to start at 10am, at First Baptist Church of Houma. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Champagne Toups; mother, Eulis Shenberger; brother, David Toups (Denise); sisters, Janice M. Rembert, Joan E. Toups, and Melanie T. Pitre (Andrew); nieces, Nicole Souldier, Tiffany Price, Danielle Toups; nephew, David A. Toups. 6 great nieces; 3 great nephews; mother-in-law, Virginia Champagne; his two special fur babies, Rosie Marie and Sugar Marie Toups. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond J. Toups; sister, Jocelyn Toups; grandparents, Oscar and Mayola Toups, Howard and Helen Trahan Sr.; father-in-law, Richard Champagne. Charles was a member of First Baptist Church in Gray. He was a faithful and loyal employee of Houma Valve Service for 36 years. He enjoyed wood carving, metal detecting, hunting for special treasures at flea markets, and spending quality time at Dot's Diner. He was a wonderful husband, son, brother, and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew him. A special thanks to Dr. Gamble, all of the loving and caring staff at Mary Bird Perkins, and Haydel Memorial Hospice. Also special thanks to his co-worker and best friend of 30+ years, Chad Hearst, for his words of encouragement and prayers for Charles and his great friendship.
