Born, July 14, 1943 he was raised in Des Allemends and a resident of Thibodaux. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 9:00AM until service time at Ordoyne Funeral Home. A military service will begin at 11:00AM with funeral service beginning at 11:30AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Thibodaux. He is survived by his wife, Susan Toups Tardo Dufrene; mother, Loubelle Dufrene Bye; children, Dawn (Brandon) Lee, James “Bubba” (Barbara) Dufrene, Jordan Cody Dufrene, Angel (Craigen) Raphael, Melinda (Travis) Martin, Nicole (Terry John) Tardo Oncale, Michaela “Shellie” (Dale) Cobb, Tony J. (Shannon) Tardo, Kristian “Kris” (Jeannie) Tardo; grandchildren, Brooke Dufrene Gaudet, Bailie Dufrene, Jesse and Jake Lee, Alexis Larousse Delcambre, Tyler John Oncale, Peyton and Adeline Oncale, Brie Buquet Tardo and Rhea Tardo, Hakeem, Miriam Olivia, Laila and Kaleb Abdullah, Brionna and Sydney Martin; sisters, Karen Dufrene (James) Brabham, Joelle Bye (Clyde) Bivens; brother, Joseph Leonce (Dhona) Bye. He was godfather to, James Brabham, Artie Hebert, Brett Hue, Derly Lucerita Garcia Loor of San Clemente, Ecuador. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas C. Dufrene, Jr., brother, Thomas C. Dufrene, III, son, Obie Grant Tardo. Jimmy was an avid reader and motorcycle enthusiast. He was always ready to travel and explore new places. He retired from Monsanto Chemical after 22 years and from the Cracker Barrel Restaurant where he was General Manager. He served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1965.
