Barbara, age 78 passed away on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of Bayou Black. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the Magnolia Chapel at Chauvin Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery. Barbara is survived by her sons, Ronnie and wife Mona Callahan Lirette, Tracy Lirette, Mike Lirette; grandchildren, Kristen and her husband Kenny Fredrick, Brandon, Jennifer, Brady, Katie Lirette; sister, Marie Voclain Gros and her husband Riley Gros; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Ronald Lirette, Sr.; parents, O.J. and Emily Babin Voclain; brother, Otis J. Voclain. Loving, caring, beautiful, hard-working, devoted Catholic, sister, mother, grandmother, friend, and a blessing from God. Those are just a few words to describe Barbara. Her family was most important to her and enjoyed spending time with them on Holidays and family gatherings. She loved to dance, bowling, swimming, crocheting for her family and friends. She was also an amazing cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. Barbara was a Notary Public and worked as a Legal Secretary for many years. She worked for many attorneys and judges in Houma and Lafayette, she also worked for Saia Motor Freight as an executive secretary. Barbara beat cancer three times, she was a strong prayer warrior and now she rests in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
