He was a native of Roanoke and a resident of Chauvin, LA. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 9 AM until funeral time at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. Burial will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Chauvin, LA. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bobbie Jean Caswell Meyer; son, James “Jimmy” D. Meyer and wife, Angela; daughter, Angela “Angie” M. Cunningham and husband, Troy; grandchildren, Kevin Crispino, Kyle Crispino and Caroline Meyer; brothers, Louis “Lou Lou” Meyer and wife, Jean, Steve Meyer and wife, Sharon, Michael Meyer, Thomas “Tommy” Meyer; sisters, Johanna “Jo Jo” Cormier, and Jane Coble and husband, Clyde “Toe Toe”; brother-in-law, Ronald L. Caswell and wife, Pat. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew Joseph Sr. and Mary Catherine Scheufens Meyer; brothers, Arnold “Poppa” Meyer and wife, Geneva, Charles Meyer and wife, Agnes, John Allen Meyer, Matthew Meyer and Clyde Meyer; in-laws, Elyard and Cora Caswell. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He served in U.S. National Guard. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. Willie Boy never knew a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
