A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 1:30 pm with a reception to follow. Thomas was born on August 12, 1942 in Rochester, New York to parents Thomas and Angelina Mortillaro. Thomas married his high school sweetheart Cheryl on February 8, 1963. They have five children and ten grandchildren. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Cheryl; son, Ronald Edward Mortillaro and wife Tammy; daughter, Lori Hunter; son, Thomas Arthur Mortillaro and wife, Jodi; daughter, Tami Boehl and husband, Bryson; daughter Valerie Laster and husband, Zachary; granddaughters Nicole Duet, Kaitlyn Mortillaro, Wallis Mortillaro, Abbigail Boehl, Reagan Mortillaro, and Olivia Hunter; grandsons, Kasey Mortillaro, D.J. Hunter, Thomas J. Mortillaro, and Garrison Boehl; sister, Juanita Leidecker; and sister-in-law, Marianne McDonald. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Angelina Mortillaro and in- laws, Edward and Kathleen VanZandt. For thirty years, Thomas was a professor of political science at Nicholls State University and also the Dean of Arts and Sciences. His passion was teaching, and he loved interacting with his students. Other than teaching, Thomas enjoyed reading, grilling, cracking jokes, talking politics, fishing, watching movies with hiswife, and most importantly, spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and his dog (and best friend) Brutus. The world will never be the same without him, but his memory will live on through his family and all those whose lives he touched. Thomas' family is deeply appreciative of Dr. Russell Henry and the staff of St. Joseph Hospice for their gentle care and kindness. Arrangements are under the direction of Thibodaux Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Thomas' name to the Cardiovascular Research Foundation and the American Diabetes Association. ======================
