Voylie T. Pontiff, age 95 passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 11, 2017. 
Born May 1, 1922, she was a native of Chackbay and resided in Thibodaux.

Voylie is survived by her daughter Janice Twiddy (Ike), grandchildren Joseph 
Hartman (Kelly), Cheryl Clyde (Rob), Charles Hartman (Krisite), Tammy Murphy 
(Wesley), Tonya Jiron (Ernie), Todd Twiddy; great grandchildren Abagail Koch 
(Miles), Gabrielle and Luke Hartman, Brock Clyde, Carlie, Kacie and Charles 
David Hartman, Michael Smith (Crystal), Brandon Smith, Tyler Register 
(Michelle), Shane Jiron (Lacey), Amanda Jroda (Brett); great great 
grandchildren Veronica, Isaac, Aiden, Valein and Erica Smith, Ernest and Emmet 
Jrion and Ryan Jroda; siblings Doris Knight, Lois Walters and Edward 
Trosclair.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Pontiff, parents Adam and 
Alfreda Trosclair, siblings Modest Gros, Flora Gros, Vivian LeRay, Bessie 
Virion, Mary Landry and Alan Trosclair.

Voylie was a homemaker and in later years worked in the Lafourche Parish 
School system until retirement. She was a kind, generous, unselfish, loving 
woman who enjoyed being with her family. She liked working in her garden, 
going out to dinner, playing cards and taking trips with her siblings. She was 
a beloved sister, mother, mother in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and 
great great grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at 
St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Thibodaux, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial 
will be celebrated at 11:00 am at the church 

followed by burial at St. Joseph cemetery, Thibodaux.
