Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2017/f1705.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Dr. Herman Ernest Walker, Jr.,MD., 78, born February 24, 1939 at Ellender Memorial Hospital in Houma, Louisiana, was born the third of nine children. He entered eternal rest on the morning of May 12, 2017 at his home in Bourg, Louisiana. A lifetime resident of Bourg, he was preceded in death by his parents Herman Walker, Sr. and Ellen Ellender Walker and one brother, Dr. Leslie Walker. He is survived by his first wife, Evelyn Louise Brown and their three daughters Dr. Anne Walker Bares and husband Dr. Jude Bares, Joan Ellen Walker and Jill Walker Chiasson and husband Daniel Chiasson. He is also survived by his wife, Lori Richard Walker, and his son Dr. McCall Walker and five grandchildren: Megan Dillon, Madison Weir, Isabella Bares, Alex Bares and Walker Bares. He was known affectionately as “BROTHER” by his surviving brothers and sisters: Mary Ellen Dugas, Carolyn Mabile, Stephen Walker, Harold Walker, Martha Butler, Linda Russell and Dr. Craig Walker. He was a graduate of Terrebonne High School and LSU in Baton Rouge, and received his Doctorate of Medicine from Louisiana State University in New Orleans. He joined the Air Force Reserves and attained the rank of Captain. He performed his internship in Shreveport, Louisiana and practiced briefly in Marion, Louisiana before returning to Houma where he proudly served as a family physician for over 30 years before his retirement. Dr. Walker indelibly touched the lives of his family, friends, patients and community. His compassionate and accomplished medical service influenced and inspired many to pursue medical careers. Family and friends are comforted knowing that their loss is Heaven’s gain. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 16, 2017 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg, La., 4355 Highway 24, Bourg, La. Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg, La on Tuesday May 16, 2017. 4355 Highway 24 - Bourg La. Viewing will be from 9:00-11:00a.m. with Mass following at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family members ask that donations be made to St. Ann Catholic Church or LSU Medical School in New Orleans.
