He was a native and resident of Houma, La. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 5PM until 9PM at Chauvin Funeral Home and Monday, July 17, 2017 from 9 AM until funeral time at St. Gregory Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial will be held in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Gray, LA. He is survived by his best friend, companion, and caregiver, Louise Strada; sons, John W. English, Jr., and Brent C. English and wife, Mary Louviere English; grandchildren, Hannah E. Babin and husband Brandon, Malia E. Odle and husband Christopher, Benjamin English and Emma Grace English; Great Grandchildren, Gage, Camryn, Cooper and Colten Odle and Hunter, Handon, and baby Babin due to arrive in October. Brother David Dickinson, wife Gina, and son Josh. Nephews Brandon and Garrett English, their spouses and 5 great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, John William, Jr., and Leonora “Leona” Marguerite Duplantis English; brother James “Woody” English; sister Mary Rose English. Winston dedicated his life to civil service, he had a real love for Terrebonne Parish and the people living within the community. He was a part of several council committees, civic organizations, and community service programs. Some of these groups include: Lifetime member of Houma Terrebonne Jaycees, Boy Scouts of America, Knights of Columbus, Houma Lions Club, Sons of American Legions, Founder of Louisiana Praline Festival, and Legion Pool Manager. He did all of this while staying active with the youth of our parish coaching all sports with Terrebonne Recreation Program. With all of Winston’s achievements as a civil service leader and career man his favorite “job” of all was being a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Jules Dupont and Dr. Ralph Bourgeois. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to your favorite charity.
