Dan was a native of Ville Plate, Louisiana, and a resident of Houma. He now rests with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Marie Immaculata on Thursday, July 20, 2017 beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery no. 2. Dan is survived by his wife of 38 years, Brenda Thibodeaux Gotreau; daughter, Tara Landry and husband Christopher; sons, Todd Cunningham and Toby Cunningham; eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; brother, Freddie Gotreau; sisters-in-law, Jerraline Serpas, Juanita Gallo; numerous nieces and nephews; Godchild, Stacie Gotreau. Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Georgianna Fontenot Gotreau; maternal and paternal grandparents; brother, Terry Gotreau; mother and father-in-law, Odile and Turk Thibodeaux; brother-in-law, Walter and wife Judith Thibodeaux. Dan was a loving husband to his beautiful wife Brenda for 38 years. He was a great father, provider and teacher to his children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. Dan was a very hard worker and worked at Terrebonne ARC for many years, he was also very talented and a jack of all trades, he enjoyed tending to his garden and tinkering around the house. On his pastime, he enjoyed time fishing. The family would like to thank Dr. Ray Cinnater and Dr. Harry McGaw for their medical expertise. The family would also like to thank Bayou Home Care and Journey Hospice for their care and compassion. Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Gotreau family. ======================
