Legendre, 93, a native and resident of Thibodaux, LA passed away peacefully on July 3, 2017. A visitation will be held in his honor on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Thibodaux, LA from 8:30 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. The burial will follow in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Cemetery, Thibodaux, LA. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Shirley Ray Legendre; children, Frances L. Pitonyak, Elaine L. Von Almen-Thormas and husband, Ronnie, Duane M. Legendre and wife, Charlotte, Mary "Angie" Miller and husband, Doug; sisters, Elsie Taylor and Ida Mae Neal; sister-in-law, Irma Mosby; grandchildren, Andrea Delcambre, Erin Smith, Lance Neal, Keith Neal, Amy Legendre, Julie Legendre, Christie Legendre, Joe Legendre, Megan Gravois, and John Legendre; step- grandchildren, Brendan Terry, Elizabeth Lawton, Tonya Broussard, and Cameron Miller; 15 great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustave and Adella Mire Legendre; siblings, Theresa Legendre, Irving Legendre Sr., Rita Small, Ruth Timmerman, Mable Wright, Myrtle Maclean, Mary Caillouet, and G. L. Gustave Legendre (infant little brother). Lloyd was awarded a Purple Heart Medal for his service in the U.S. Army, serving during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He worked for Lafourche Sugar's as a Chief Engineer and Factory Manager for 56 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends. All things aside his family was most important to him.
