He was born October 20, 1934, in Chacahoula and was a resident of Houma. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Navarre; his son with his first wife, Roy Navarre; daughter-in-law, S. Silvia Navarre; and two grandsons, Luke and Dominic, in Zillah, Washington; three sisters, Anna Navarre, Betty Navarre, and Jeannete Gilcrease; and Kmee Mayeur, who was like a granddaughter to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emile Navarre and Hilda Pontiff Navarre; brothers Junius and Eudis; sisters, Victoria Grabert, Eula Pinell, Edna Fonseca, and Rose May Navarre; and his first wife, Shirley Black. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1976, after tours of duty around the world, including Vietnam. He and Brenda opened their homes and hearts to several foster children. A service will be held Saturday, July 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin at 11 a.m. The family thanks the staff at Maison De'ville, and the doctors and nurses at Terrebonne General for their kind care.
