[i.e. La.]) 1875-1898, September 21, 1878, English, Image 2 Dr. Pierre Dansereau. - The death of this eminent physician and distinguished citizen which occurred last Tuesday morning, has cast a gloom of sadness over this Town and Parish that the demise of none other could have caused. It has been about forty years since Dr. Dansereau emigrated to this State from Canada and settled some five miles above this town to practise his profession. He was a successful practitioner in that community for many yeaas (sic), when he purchased a plantation near Labadieville on which he resided until the close of the late war. He then removed to Brazil in South America where he remained some years after which he returned to Thibodaux and re-commenced the practise of medicine. His former friends and patrons, at once, began to call upon their old physician, and from his arrival he was constantly busy in the performance of his duties, ever ready and prompt to respond to any call made upon him. As a physician he had few superiors and his long experience gave him a through knowledge of the various phases of disease incident to this portion of Louisiana. As a citizen he was watchful, took a deep interest in any enterprise calculated to improve the public welfare, as a neighbor he was kind, charitable, hospitable, and fraternal, as a husband and father he was devoted and affectionate. Dr. Dansereau was twice married. From his first marriage he leaves several children, one of whom is in South America, another in Canada, one in this place and the others in New Orleans: from his second marriage he leaves two sons, one of whom is in Canada. Dr. Dansereau lived and died a true Christian. In this fact his widow and children can find consolation and hope in this day of sorrow and trial. The deceased was buried in St. Joseph's cemetery, where his remains will rest in peace until time shall be no more.
