Dansereau. - This community was thrown into a gloom last Thursday evening, over the death of Mrs. H. C. Dansereau, the news coming almost as a surprise to a great many who had not heard of her short illness and many who thought that she was doing better. Deceased is of one of the prominent families in this town, wife Dr. H. C. Donsereau one of the oldest practitioners of medicine in this community, and ideal man and honored and highly thought of by all who know him. His wife, deceased, was of a quite and retiring disposition, a devoted mother and loving wife. She was before marriage Miss Alida M. Aycock, born in the Parish of Terrebonne, only a short distance from this town. Between forty five and fifty years ago she married Dr. Dansereau and this union was blessed with ten children eight of whom survive her together with Dr. Dansereau. The children are Dr. Philip Dansereau, practicing here, Dr. Henry Henry Dansereau, practicing at Labadieville, and Mrs. R. McMahon of New Iberia, Mrs. Charles Goaux, Mrs. P. A. Engerran, Mrs. John McNamara; Mrs. Lawrence Menuet, and Miss. Anna Dansereau, all residing here and two who preceded her to the grave, Miss Cecile and Master Claude. She leaves besides a number of grand children, three sisters and two brothers, all of whom, with her family were at her bedside when she died. She had reached the age of 65, the greater portion of which she lived in this community and she was loved and revered by all who knew her. Devoted to her husband, home and family, her home life was ideal, her children all grown up into honorable and representative citizens have the condolences and sympathy of their numerous friends. Her remains were interred Friday afternoon in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at 4:30 o'clock, the funeral being largely attended.
