We did not happen to know the gentleman but he evidently has friends and acquaintances her since citizens were invited to his funeral. ================================ Submitted by: Nancy Wright The Lafourche Comet, [Thursday] October 31, 1940, page 5, col. 3 MRS. LODIAS DUGAS (From the St. Martinville Messenger) Funeral services for Mrs. Lodias Dugas, 39 years old, born Veronica Fremin, a native of Lafourche parish, whose death occurred in New Iberia last Saturday, October 12, were held from the St. Peter's Catholic church in New Iberia the following afternoon. Interment followed in the Catholic cemetery of that city. The daughter of Mrs. Victor Fremin and the later Victor Fremin, of Labadieville, Mrs. Dugas with her family moved to New Iberia a year ago, where she made her home during the past 12 years. Her husband is a native of St. Martin parish. She leaves to mourn her death besides her mother and husband, two young daughters, Joyce Ann and Doris. The above item has the deceased's maiden name spelled "Freeman", but we changed it to Fremin, for we knew her and her parents when they lived at Labadieville and then the name was spelled "Fremin", which those who do not know how to pronounce French, change into "Freeman". But as Freeman we doubt that some of the deceased's former friends and acquaintances here would recognize her. She and her parents used to call at the Comet office when they lived at Labadieville, so we got to know them quite intimately? We regret to hear of Mrs. Dugas' death at the comparatively youthful age of 39 years. ==============================
