The date preceding the obituary is the date of newspaper, not the date of death. ================================ Submitted by: Nancy Wright ULYSSES MORVANT The Lafourche Comet, Nov. 7, 1929, page 5, col. 4 DEATH OF MR MORVANT The following notice in Saturday's Times-Picayune brought the news of the death of Mr. Ulysses Morvant: MORVANT - On Friday, November 1, 1929, at 10:20 a.m., Ulysses MORVANT, beloved husband of Corinne Breaux, father of Mrs. Sidney Molaison, Mr. Eddie Boudreaux, Ulysses, Jr., Lewis, Raoul and Gaston Morvant. The remains will be taken to Thibodaux, La., this Saturday, November 2, 1929, at 8 a.m., where services will be held at 11 a.m. The deceased, who was a son of the late Emile U. Morvant, was a native of Lafourche parish, where he had resided up to about four or five years, when he decided to make his home in New Orleans. He thus leaves a large number of relatives and friends here to lament his death. Besides those mentioned in the notice above, he is survived by three brothers and four sisters, their names being: Mr. Edgar Morvant, deputy sheriff of Lafourche parish; Hon. Walter Morvant, president of the Lafourche Pairsh School Board; Mr. Chas. Morvant; Mrs. C. N. Folse, wife of Mayor Folse of Thibodaux; Mrs. James Dill and Miss Eudoxie Morvant, of Thibodaux, and Mrs. Alfred Pecot of New Orleans. ============================== Submitted by: Nancy Wright RAOUL MORVANT The Lafourche Comet, Thursday, March 11, 1937, page 5, col. 2 Death of Mr. Morvant Mr. Raoul Morvant, known intimately by his friends and acquaintances, as "Rox" Morvant, died last Thursday night, at Charity Hospital in New Orleans where he had been sent just a day or so before the end, he being in misery, so we are informed, with an acute affection of the stomach. The deceased, whose age was 48 years, had worked for a half dozen years as a bartender in "Rene's Bar", where he had some in contact with many citizens, whose friendship he had gained and who were deeply saddened by his death. His mother, Mrs. Ulysse Morvant, and several brothers and sisters are left to lament his death. His funeral was held Saturday at 10 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic church. ============================
