ERNEST ROGER, SR., Lafourche Parish, La. ROGER -- On Thursday, March 12 1925, at 5:30 o'clock a. m., at Greenwood Plantation, near Thibodaux, La., MRS. ERNEST ROGER, SR., widow of the late Ernest Roger, Sr., and mother of Miss Louise Roger, Mrs. Earle Knobloch, Mrs. E. A. Rainold, T. H., L. C., and Ernest Roger, Jr., aged 83 years. The relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral services which will be held this morning (Friday) at St. John's Catholic church, Lafourche parish, at 9 o'clock a. m. ============================ Submitted by Nancy Wright Source: The Lafourche Comet, March 19, 1925, page 5, col. 3 MRS. ERNEST ROGER Mrs. Roger Departs This Life Mrs. Ernest Roger died at her home on Greenwood plantation last Thursday morning at 5:30 o'clock at the advanced age of 83 years. Her funeral was held Friday morning at 9 o'clock at St. John's Catholic Church, above Thibodaux, and afterwards the body was brought to Thibodaux, and deposited in its last resting place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The deceased was a native of this parish, she having been a Miss Trosclair before her marriage. Her entire life was associated with the sugar planting industry, her parents having been sugar planters, her husband and his children always having been prominent sugar planters. This fact, however, did not affect her judgment and kindly disposition, she being ever considerate for those less fortunate in life than herself, genial and pleasant towards her friends and acquaintances and above all, Christian like in her attitude toward all. She thus, with the cooperation of her devoted husband who passed away some years ago, reared her sons and daughters to be men and women of dignity, yet conscious of the fellow feeling due by one mortal to another. About five months ago Mrs. Roger sustained an attack of paralysis and thus she was unable to move about except in an invalid chair until God chose to call from earth to the realm above. To lament her death and ever recall her virtues she leaves three daughters - Mrs. Earle Knobloch of New York, Mrs. E. A. Rainold of New Orleans, and Miss Louise Roger of Greenwood. Three sons also survive, they being Messrs. Thomas Roger, L. C. Roger and Ernest Roger, Jr., the latter being now a resident of Arcola, La. She also leaves grandchildren and great grandchildren, who will hand down to the future ofspring the pleasant impressions made upon their mind by their maternal grand parent, who, we trust, is now enjoying the bliss of Heaven. ========================== Submitted by Nancy Wright Source: The Lafourche Comet, March 12, 1925, page 1, col. 3 Death of Mrs. Roger As we go to press we learn with deep sorrow, of the death of Mrs. Ernest Roger, Sr., who passed away this morning at 5:30, aged 83.
