Coon a resident of the aforesaid State and Parish who declares that for an in consideration of the Price herein after named he does grant Bargain Sell and deliver unto Eli Splawn a resident of the Parish and State aforesaid present purchasing and accepting for himself the following described tract of land lying and being Situated in the Parish and State aforesaid Containing One hundred and Eighty three 85/100 acres more or less: the South East quarter and South half of Lot Number one being South East quarter of North East quarter of Section No. 4, Township No. 9 - North of Range 5 East containing one hundred and forty five 32/100 acres. Also the North half of Lot No one being the North East quarter of North East quarter of Sec. No 4, Township 9, Range 5 East containing thirty eight 50/100 acres -- with all acres Ingntor (sic) the improvements thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold unto him the said purchaser his heirs and assigns forever. This sale is made for an in consideration of two hundred and fifty dollars payable on the first day of January 1867, Eighteen hundred & Sixty Seven for which said Eli Splawn has this day given to Said C.B. Coon his promissory note being 8% interest from maturity. Said Eli Splawn for this gives to obligate to James M. Stamper a certain promissory note which was drawn by Said C.B. Coon on the 5th day of Oct 1859 in favor of Edward Hawthorn and was given in part payment for the price of the same tract of land bought by said Coon to favor Edward Hawthorn as will appear by reference to said deed Record & in the Recorders office. The parties agree to dispense with the production of a mortgage Certficate as required by article 3328 of the Civil Code and to hold one said Deputy Record harmless in the business.
