JENA TEAM WINS SECOND PLACE IN NATIONAL MEET Defeated by Athens, Texas Who Captures Title Second Time LaSalle Parish has joined hands in making arrangements to honor Jena's Juggling Giants who won second place in the national interscholastic cage tournament at Chicago last week and who has brought more recognition to Louisiana than any other basketball team has ever done. A banquet and general celebration will be staged in their honor with the entire parish taking part. The brilliant exhibition of the crackerjack little Jena giants reaching the finals is bringing words of praise for the Louisiana youngsters from all sections of the country. "Sparky Wade, captain of the Jena five was honored by being selected guard of the first-string all-American team, while his teammate Doughty was given honorary mention. The fighting little Louisiana team battled its way through tough opposition and just when the title was within grasp, the big Athens, Texas team, which averages six feet two inches in height, walked off with the championship despite a brilliant comeback on the part of the Jena lads.
