All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** State of Louisiana Parish of Catahoula, Janry 2nd 1873 Be it Known by these present that on this day the following agreement was entered into between Eli Splawn and Edward F Keenan - both residents of the above Parish & State to wit: Eli Splawn sells to said Keenan One Flat and Skiff now lying at the Bushly Ferry two miles from Harrisonburg on the road leading to the town of Trinity State & Parish aforesaid, for the Sum of $150. One Hundred & Fifty Dollars Cash paid this day by said Keenan who also obligates himself to cross said Splawn, Family, Hands working on the Plantation & ferry and said Bushly all matters appurtaining to said Plantation free of Charge from date until the thirty first day of December One thousand Eight Hundred & Seventy Five (Dec 31st 1875). It is further agreed ____ that in case of high water said Keenan is to loan said Splawn his flat for the purpose of getting freight from the Landing and taking his Stock to high Land all of which is to be done free of Charge. Should said Keenan fail to comply with the above stipulated agreement he is to forfeit the within mentioned Flat & Skiff to Said Splawn, and such damages as might be sustained by said Splawn, who obligates himself to return said Flat & Skiff in as good ______(condition?) as they were when he received them.--- Witnesses: Eli Splawn Henry Sturman E.
