I had to go to the depot to Ship some flour and came back by Mr. Splawn to read the letter to him. I knew he was anxious to hear from you all. Isaac came in and read the letter also. we where (sic) all truly glad to hear from you and family. Mr. Splawn has been very Sick but he is geting well. he is able to atend (sic) to his business. he has removed Joining to Isaac. they are both well fixed. We have not heard from Anthony for tow (sic) week's. he was well two week's ago and doing good business. I am working at the flour mill. I don't know if we will make annything (sic) at it or not in milling. a man has to risk a great deal. I don't feel near as well working in a mill as I did working in the fresh air on the farm and if I live til next January I will land some were (sic) in louisiana. Dr. I have not heard from Wm Splawn Since last winter. a young man Who use (sic) to live in Elmo Saw him in texarkana and we have not heard from him Since but if I hear from him anny time Soone I will write to him and let yhu know. Dr I have no news to write to you exept (sic) we have more Sickness hear (sic) than anny (sic) Country I Ever Saw and dangerous desease (sic) of all sorte, and I don't advised anny (sic) man of family to come here. I Speack (sic) for myself I have not felt well a week at a time in texas. We have a good prospect for Crop's round here this year and if we make anny (sic) thing here milling here this year and I make Enough to bring me back to Louisiana I will risk making my living there for my part. Mr. Splawn wants to come back and See you all if he can arange (sic) his business he is Sure to come. I would like to see you all one's (sic) more but I can't at present.
