Elmo, Texas, Nov 24, 1878 Dr. Jefferson Ezell Dear Sir & Friend I rec'd a letter from you a few days Since wich (sic) was gladly rec'd. me and mr. Splawn both we were truly happy to hear the news that you where (sic) all well, we had not heard from you and fmaily for so long that we tought (sic) you had lost one of your family. Mr. Splawn Says he would like for you to write to him one's (sic) a month and I will always be glad to hear from you and family. Mr. Splawn says for me to tell you that he will Settle his busness as Soon as he can, but it will take him 12 months to get trough (sic) with it without making to much Sacrifice of his property. however he Says he will try to come in to See you in the Spring -- and Stay with you during the dull part of the Season. then he will have to come back and try to colect (sic) up what owed to him, and it is a goodeal (sic). Dr. I have no news to write you except times are dull and money hard to get here and the peoples all deeply in debts more then they Ever will be able to pay out. Dr as Mr. Splawn is lonesome you must write to him often and I will be glad to hear from you at anny (sic) time hoping to hear from you againe (sic) Soon. I remaine (sic) your most Sincere Friend. Mr. Splawn Send his best love to the family and his best love to martha and the childrens (sic). nothing at present give my respect to Mr. heard and family and accept the Same yourself.
