Dear children,
     I once more take my pen and seat myself to drop you a few lines I
have written four letters two of them I directed to the White Sulphur
Springs but no answerabout 12 months ago there came a man by here he
told me your adress Clinton I directed two to the office but met the
same success I have just received a letter from Catharine Scott she
states hearing from you inguiring fore me she also gives me a sad
account of John My mind is not in a condition to write to you with any
satisfaction For I am troubled you know I have been making my home at
the house of H.S. Williams ever since I was at your house except while I
was gone out west to see the children My address is Leesville, Vernon
Pa, LA I expect to start out west to see my childen in about six weeks
from this date I cannot tell how long I will be gone that depends on my
eyes if it is not too late or too near cold weather I may try to come
and see you if you receive this please wirte to me out west my address
will be Troy, Bell County Texas Dear children excuse my short and
unsatisfactory letter my mind is confused so I no more but remain as
ever your unworthy parent
