Misc., Statement Uriah V. Whatley, LaSalle Parish, La. Submitted by: Sarah Whatley Stringer ********************************************** Copyright. It suffered much from Indian Wars in 1680 and John Mason was the first governor. A constitution formed for the state in 1783 and went into operation the next year. There was an insurrection in Massachusetts. These dates are only given to show that my fore parents were living at the time in Georgia or some where in that region of the U.S. From the fact that my grandfather was borned February the 7, 1778. When the constitution was formed for New Hampshire my grandfather was five years of age, and at the time of insurrection in 1786 he was eight years old, and his father, my great grandfather died and is buried in the Cherokee Corner of the state of Georgia. My grandfathers name is William Whatley borned February the 7th, 1778 and my father's name is Uriah Whatley borned January the 1st 1801 and died May 25th 1864, and grandfather died May 25th 1840. I have been taught by my father that his grandmother was a full blooded Indian. The young man who has this statement is my only son. Respectfully yours, Uriah V. Whatley
