F. W. 1952" of U. S. A. Winnfield's national beauty queen, Jenna Faye Whatley, arrived home Monday with her latest title, "Miss V. F. W. of 1952." She was sponsored by the Ruston, Louisiana V. F. W. Post. Among her many prizes was an original Gold Medal skirt and sweater suit. Of course the main prize was a screen test which she will take with 20th Century Fox studios in Hollywood. Arrangements for this will be completed for two or three weeks and at that time she plans to return to Hollywood. The triumphant homecoming to New Orleans was a highlight of the trip. The New Orleans V. F. W. band met her at the train and a Canal Street parade followed. At the V. F. W. Post in New Orleans, a huge "Welcome Home, Miss V. F. W." was spelled out in cake. Jenna Faye emphasized that it was not spelled out in the letters on the cake, but the letters themselves were made of cake. That night a party was held on the beach welcoming home the winner. Two Television Shows While in California, Jenna Faye made two television appearances and two radio appearances. There was a continual round of luncheons and banquets. Mrs. Estelle Gerding of New Orleans was Jenna Faye's chaperon on the trip. The contest itself was exactly like the "Miss America" contest at Atlantic City. Judges were Hollywood actresses Ida Lupino, Lisa Kirk, and actor Howard Duff. While in Hollywood, Jenna Faye toured the studios of 20th Century Fox and the Universal International Studios. She met movie stars Alan Ladd, Betty Grable, and Audie Murphy. "This trip was very educational because of the many interesting people I met," said Jenna Fay "and I would like to thank the V. F. W. of Louisiana and especially the post at Ruston for sponsoring me, and I certainly appreciate all they have done for me." (Submitted by Greggory Ellis Davies, Winnfield, Winn Parish, LA.)
