Date: Wednesday, August 9, 2000, Page 16A Barbara Ellen Allbritton barbara Ellen Nugent Allbritton, 92, of Tullos, died early Saturday, August 5, 2000, at LaSalle Nursing Home of Jena following a lengthy illness. She was birn on February 29, 1908 (Leap Year) to the union of C.A. and Essie Martin Nugent. During her life time she was a devoted daughter, a caring wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a faithful Christian. She spent many years of her life teaching Sunday School classes and working in other functions of her church. She ws a woman of exemplary character, a prayer warrior whose Bible was well worn from use. Services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, August 7, at New Union Baptist Church near Tullos with the Revs. Huey Tarpley and Paul Nugent officiating. Interment followed in the New Union Church Cemetery under direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Olla. Survivors include one son, Norman Allbritton of Tullos; three daughters, Cordie Newsom of Tullos, Merle Childress of Grayson and Vera Grant of holum; one sister, Hattie Nugent Allbritton of Greenwood; eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. He was born in Tullos on Jan. 7, 1935 to Dewey and Thelma Allbritton. He was a graduate of LaSalle High School in 1953 and La. Tech University in 1957. He was a resident of Houston since 1969, a member of Richmond Plaza Baptist Church, president of Carribean Tourism Organization, member of Bellaire/Southwest Houston Rotary Club and several other services organizations. He worked for International Paper Co for 20 years and was co- owner of All Travel Agency in Houston for the past 12 years. Funeral services were held at 7:30, Monday, Feb. 12 at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. Graveside services was held at Springhill Cemetery, Springhill, at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13, 1990.
