(No Relation.) Submitted: January 2006 Source: The Jena Times - Olla Tullos Signal; Jena, LaSalle Parish, LA. Clippings at the LaSalle Parish Library located in Jena, LaSalle Parish, LA. Date: January 4, 1989, Wednesday Headline: From Georgetown - Teen dies from fight injuries An 18-year-old Georgetown man died about 4:00 a.m. Monday at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria from injuries he received in a fight in Alexandria Friday night. Steven Daniel Arledge, 18, was involved in a fight at the pantry Pal convenience store on Jackson Street Extension in Alexandria last Friday night. Arledge was rushed to the hospital in the back seat of a police car after attempts to revive him at the scene did not work. According to witnesses, Arledge passed out and hit his head on the concrete parking lot after being hit by Travis Bordelon, 21, of Alexandria. Both Bordelon and a nurse at the store attempted to revive Arledge by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the parking lot and enroute to the hospital. Police requested an ambulance, but none was available because all had been dispatched to other calls, a Cenla Ambulance dispatcher said. A police spokesman said Monday the case probably will be presented to a grand jury for consideration of charges after all the facts are in. An autopsy was ordered to determine the exact cause of death. A relative to Arledge said that an attending physician had said the youth died from a blow or blows to the face, and not from his head hitting the concrete when he was knocked down. Services werescheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in United Pentecostal Church in Georgetown with the Revs. James Simon, Mickey Parker, and David Tipton officiating. Burial will follow in the Olla Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. ========== ------------------------ ARMSTRONG, D. B.
