Funeral services were conducted Friday at 2 pm in the Wallace Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Chandler officiating. Burial followed in Heard Cemetery near Manifest under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Date: October 1, 1997 BASS, Edward Monroe 71, of Kelly, died Sunday, September 28, 1997 at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia Heights. He was a bridge supervisor for T.L. James Co., and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was also a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church near Olla. He was born June 3, 1926, to the union of Grover Richard and Mary Duke Bass. Services were held Tuesday, September 30, 1997 at the chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Ronnie Tarver officiating. Interment followed in the Good Hope Cemetery near Kelly under direction of Riser and Son, Columbia. Date: Wednesday, November 25, 1998 Frances Cockerham Bass Frances Cockerham Bass, 57, of Olla, died Friday, November 20, 1998, form injuries received in An automobile accident near Olla. She was born Jan. 31,1941, to the union of William Baxter and Katie Renfrow Cockerham. She was a homemaker and member of the Whitehall United Pentecostal Church where she taught Sunday School. Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 22, at the Whitehall United Pentecostal Church at Whitehall with the Revs. Joey Paul and G. A. Mangun officiating. Interment followed in the Chickasaw Cemetery east of Olla under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla. Survivors include two sons, Tony Westbrooks of Jena and Terry Westbrooks of Pineville; her mother, Katie Cockerham of Olla; five brothers, Bobby Joe Cockerham, Kenneth Cockerham, Huey Cockerham, and Louis "Dumpy" Cockerham, all of Olla and W. C. Glisson officiating. Burial was in Olla Cemetery under direction of Riser and Son, Columbia. Bass died at 2:30 a.m. Friday, February 3, 1984, in his home. He was a member of Olla Church of God, a veteran of World War II, and produce manager at the Highway Supermarket. Date: Wednesday, June 27, 1990; page 2B Rev. Hardie Bass Rev. Hardie B. Bass, 89, of Minden, died at 1:45 a.m. Sunday June 24, 1990, in Meadowview Nursing Home in Minden. He was a retired Baptist minister. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with the Rev. Doris Dearmon, officiating. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery, just west of Tullos.
