CHAPMAN Jena - Services for Bertie H. Chapman, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home chapel in Jena with the Rev. S. B. Spinks officiating. Burial will be in Belah Memorial Cemetery in Trout under the direction of the funeral home. Mrs. Chapman died Saturday at Golden Age Nursing Home after a short illness. She was a housewife. Survivors include one son, Thomas Chapman of Trout, one sister, Lillian Mosley of Trout; three brothers, Elmer Humphries of Olla, Elvey Humphries and Avery Humphries both of Trout; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-granchildren. Date: Dec. 29, 1932, Thursday Mrs. Steve Chapman Is Buried on Monday In Summerville, La. News of the death of Mrs. Cora Cockerham Chapman, of Nickel, La. Who died Monday morning, 3:30, December 26, was received with great sorrow and the passing of this esteemed lady has left a vacancy in the circle of those who knew her. Death occured at the home of her son and daughter in Jena, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Andrews, where she has been ill with pneumonia for about ten days. Mrs. Chapman was 51 years of age at the time of her death, and since early life she has been a member of the Methodist church. She was born in Summerville and has been residing at Nickel for the past 23 years. She was married to Mr. Steve T. Chapman. Funeral services were held at Summerville Monday afternoon, December 26, with Rev. Cupples, pastor of the Olla Methodist church officiating. Interment was made in the Wilbanks cemetery. Surviving her are her husband of Nickel and daughter, Mrs. Ernest Andrews, of Jena. Date: Thursday, Dec. 10, 1936 Former Jena Citizen Buried at Arcadia on Thursday, Dec. 3 Funeral services were held for Claude Chapman at the First Baptist church in Arcadia last Thursday morning at 10 o'clock with interment following in the cemetery at that place. Mr. Chapman, who was a former Jena citizen passed away at a Shreveport Sanitarium at 5 o'clock Wednesday morning. The deceased is survived by his mother, Mrs. J.N. Blume; one sister, Mrs. J.W. Baker of Shreveport and a step-sister, Mrs. Eugene Washburn of Rio Grande Valley, Texas. He was a nephew of Mrs. J. U. Chapman, age 38, of Urania, died at 5:30 p.m. January 31, while undergoing a very serious operation at Alexandria. Mr. Chapman was a valued citizen of Urania, an employee of the Urania Lumber Co., for many years. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mildred and Vivian, one sister, Mrs. Eugene Buckley; and two brothers, Claude and Jeff. All except the latter reside in Urania. Funeral services were held Friday in the Pine Hill Baptist Church under direction of Rev. He was a retired pharmacist and owned and operated LaSalle Pharmacy in Jena for many years. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Jena. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was born April 10, 1928, at Little Creek to the union of Daniel and Nellie Peyton Chapman. Services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home in Jena with Rev. Dominick DiCarlo officiating. Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 17, in the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Glen Roark officiating. Interment followed in the Jena Cemetery under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc. of Jena.
